Annapurna Base Camp Trek — 10 Days in Nepal's Himalayan Sanctuary

Kathmandu to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) via Pokhara, Chhomrong, and Machhapuchhre Base Camp — 10 days

Annapurna Base Camp — also known as Annapurna Sanctuary — sits at 4,130 meters and serves as the base camp for Annapurna I, the world's eighth highest peak, with surrounding summits that include Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Gangapurna, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The approach follows a well-established trail through Chhomrong village, bamboo forest, suspension bridges, and stone stairways, gaining altitude gradually over six trekking days before the final push to the sanctuary floor. The 10-day itinerary opens with half-day sightseeing in Kathmandu — covering Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites — then connects to Pokhara by a 25-minute domestic flight. The trek begins and ends at Jhinu Danda, where natural hot springs offer a practical rest point at 1,750 meters. The route's sustained but moderate gradient makes it accessible to trekkers without technical mountaineering experience, while the scale of the high-camp amphitheatre at ABC rewards the effort with a 360-degree panorama that few Himalayan routes can match at this altitude.
