Everest Base Camp Trek — 15 Days

Walk to 5,364 meters through Sherpa villages, monasteries, and the Khumbu Glacier to reach the base of the world's highest peak.

The Everest Base Camp Trek is a 15-day high-altitude route through the Khumbu region of Nepal, traversing from the mountain airstrip at Lukla to the expedition camp at 5,364 meters on the south side of Mount Everest. The trek follows the Dudh Koshi River valley northward through a succession of Sherpa settlements—Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche—and then climbs steeply into alpine terrain past the Khumbu Glacier to Gorakshep and finally to Base Camp itself. Along the way, trekkers pass through protected forest, cross suspension bridges over glacial rivers, and move through Sagarmatha National Park. The route includes acclimatization days built into the itinerary to manage altitude gain; two of these—in Namche Bazaar at 3,440 meters and Dingboche at 4,400 meters—allow time to visit monasteries, museums, and viewpoints including the Everest View Hotel and Tengboche Monastery, where the 19-day Mani Rimdu Buddhist festival takes place each autumn. A sunset visit to Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters precedes the final ascent to Base Camp, from which the Khumbu Icefall and expedition tents are visible at close range. The descent retraces the upper valleys before dropping back to Namche and Lukla for the return flight to Kathmandu. All meals and lodging are included throughout the trek.

Best time to go: Sept-Nov & Mar- May
