Iriomote: Mangrove Kayak, Waterfall Trek & Coastal Lunch — 7 Hours
A half-day itinerary combining river paddling, outdoor cooking, and waterfall trekking on Okinawa's largest subtropical island
This seven-hour outing on Iriomote Island pairs two distinct water-based activities: a 2.5-hour paddle down a calm mangrove river where the vegetation narrows into tunnel-like passages, followed by a 2.5-hour trek through tropical rainforest to a waterfall accessible by crossing streams and rocky terrain. Between these activities, a one-hour outdoor lunch includes preparation of Okinawan noodles using local vegetables and a choice of traditional pork-based or vegetarian broths. Participants depart from their Iriomote accommodation or from Uehara Port (the arrival point for day-trippers from Ishigaki Island) and return to the same location by afternoon. All equipment, meals, tea, fresh fruit, travel insurance, and transportation are included; an English-speaking guide leads the group throughout.
