Khao Sok Jungle River Trek to the Sea — Half Day

A half-day descent following a jungle stream through boulder fields and clear pools to a coastal inlet, with lunch by the water and an unhurried return

This half-day trek follows a jungle stream from its interior course downward toward the ocean. The route crosses boulder fields, passes through clear pools suitable for wading and brief swims, and descends past small waterfalls beneath dense canopy. The trek concludes at a quiet coastal inlet where the freshwater stream meets the sea—a natural pause point for lunch and rest. The return journey retraces the stream at an easier pace, allowing time for photography, additional swims, and exploration of small rock formations and grotto-like sections along the water's edge. A bilingual local guide leads the full route; safety equipment and a packed lunch are provided.

Day by day

1Khao Sok Stream: Jungle Descent to Sea and Returntrailhead · jungle stream · coastal inlet where the stream meets the sea
The trek begins with a brief gear check and safety briefing at the trailhead, conducted by a bilingual local guide. The main descent follows a jungle stream for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, moving across boulders and through clear pools, with short sections of wading and swimming beneath the canopy. Small waterfalls mark the descent; the route ends at a coastal inlet where the stream meets the sea, a sheltered spot with open views down the valley. Lunch—either provided by the guide or pre-ordered as a bento box—is taken here, with opportunity to float in calm shallows or rest on the beach. The return journey covers the same route upstream, taking approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, at a slower pace. This return leg allows time for additional swims in pools revisited on the way, photograph stops at waterfalls and natural formations, and brief exploration of small caves and rock alcoves along the stream. The trek concludes at the trailhead. Total duration is half a day; timings are approximate and adjust for weather, tidal conditions, and river levels. Optional transport to and from the meeting point is available on request.
