Luzon's Northern Heritage & Coastal Route — 7 Days

UNESCO sites, lighthouses, and island waters from Laoag through Vigan to Bolinao

This seven-day itinerary traces the architectural and cultural layer of northern Luzon, moving between three UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the archipelago's northern coastline. The route begins in Laoag, where the baroque Paoay Church sits beside Paoay Lake, and the Spanish colonial mansion Malacanang of the North commands views across the water. From there, the journey turns eastward to Pagudpud, where Cape Bojeador Lighthouse stands at the northern tip of the Philippines, and the Patapat Causeway bridges two coastlines with views toward the South China Sea and Pacific Ocean. The centerpiece is Vigan, a walled city with intact 16th-century architecture—churches, ancestral homes, and pottery workshops—then southward to the Hundred Islands Marine Park near Alaminos and the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse complex. The itinerary includes boat tours through coral reefs, village walks, and meals sourced locally. Accommodation ranges from provincial hotel standards to seaside resort settings.
