Mirissa Coastal Cycling: Cinnamon Plantations & Village Life — 1 Day

A half-day ride through Sri Lanka's southern cinnamon belt, combining flat coastal terrain with encounters of rural agricultural life.

The coastal region around Mirissa, in South Sri Lanka's southwestern corner, is the nation's primary cinnamon-growing area. A half-day cycling route through this zone moves past active cinnamon plantations, tea gardens, and rubber tree groves, with stops to observe the traditional process of cinnamon bark peeling. The terrain is predominantly flat with minor elevation changes, suited to riders of varying ability. The ride passes through active village areas where day-to-day agricultural and domestic life remains visible from the road — an alternative to the more frequented resort and wildlife tourism routes elsewhere on the island.
