Northern Okinawa: Mangrove & Reef Kayaking — 3 Hours

Native English-guided paddling through the Yanbaru region, with options for mangrove exploration or coral reef navigation

A three-hour private kayak tour of Northern Okinawa's Yanbaru region, led by a native English-speaking certified guide. The route adapts to weather, sea conditions, and the group's paddling ability—options include the mangrove systems of Haneji Inland Sea, the coral reef at Nakijin, the islands and beaches around Kouri and Yagaji, or a combination suited to the group's preferences. The guide provides a safety briefing and warm-up at the launch site, with paddling broken into two sessions (30–45 minutes and 30–40 minutes) separated by a rest break on a beach or sandy shore. Life jackets, neoprene footwear, and all equipment are provided, along with tea and local snacks.

Highlights

  • Mangrove kayaking in Haneji Inland Sea—paddling among mangrove root systems and learning about their ecological role in the region
  • Coral reef exploration at Nakijin Reef—shallow-water paddling over living coral formations
  • Kouri Island and surrounding secret beaches—accessible by kayak, with options for island exploration depending on conditions
  • Yagaji Sea Valley—open-water paddling through a designated sea valley with varied terrain and wildlife viewing
