Day by day

1Chiang Mai Old City: Temple Walk & Traditional Khantoke DinnerChiang Mai Old City
Arrival in Chiang Mai begins with a bike fit session at the hotel, followed by a walking tour of temples within the old city walls. The city center contains temples built during the Lanna Kingdom era; the walk focuses on accessible sites and the architectural vocabulary of northern Thai temple design. At sunset, the group gathers for a traditional Khantoke dinner—a northern Thai meal served on low tables with classical dance performances. This format has been standard hospitality practice in northern Thailand for generations and establishes context for the region's cultural priorities. Accommodation: Rachamankha Hotel.
2Mae Rim Valley Cycling: Farmland, Canals & Village LunchChiang Mai · Mae Rim area · a village home · the village · Phusanfah Resort
The group departs Chiang Mai by van for the morning, transferring to the Mae Rim area north of the city to begin the first cycling segment on quieter roads. The 30-kilometer ride follows rural roads and canal-side paths through flower farms, farmland, and small temples. Lush greenery and cultivated fields frame the route; stops include viewpoints of local market activity and temple compounds with gleaming roofs. At midday, the group arrives at a village home where lunch is prepared and served by a local family. Guides facilitate conversation, and the afternoon includes a walking tour of the village on foot—quiet streets lined with traditional wooden Thai houses and artisan shops. The day ends at Phusanfah Resort with a van shuttle back from the riding area. Cycling distance: 30 km. Accommodation: Phusanfah Resort.
3Mae Taeng River Rafting & Wat Tham Pakpiang HikeMae Taeng River · Wat Tham Pakpiang · Yatika Boutique Chiang Dao
The group transitions from cycling to white-water rafting on the Mae Taeng River, navigating rapids through dense forest and limestone valleys. The rapids move at moderate pace through jungle corridors. Following a local lunch, the group travels to Chiang Dao and hikes on jungle trails to Wat Tham Pakpiang, a cave temple built into limestone rock. The site sits less than one kilometer from the more visited Wat Tham Chiang Dao but remains substantially quieter. The cave contains a Buddhist shrine and allows time for observation of the natural and spiritual setting. The hiking distance and elevation gain are moderate; the terrain is uneven. Accommodation: Yatika Boutique Chiang Dao.
4Chiang Dao Mountain & Mae Kok Valley CyclingChiang Dao mountain rising above the valley · Chiang Dao Wildlife Refuge · Mae Kok River Valley · Maekok River Village Resort
The morning offers optional activities: a rest day at the resort with views of Chiang Dao mountain rising above the valley, or a gentle walk through Chiang Dao Wildlife Refuge. The afternoon cycling begins after lunch, following lightly traveled roads that descend and wind toward the Mae Kok River Valley. The landscape transitions from mountains to rolling farmland; villages along the route see few foreign visitors. Children often wave to passing cyclists, and locals continue daily routines largely uninterrupted by tourism. Cycling distance: 28 km. Accommodation: Maekok River Village Resort.
5Mae Kok River & Mae Salong Mountain CyclingMae Salong · Mae Kok River valley · Tantawan Tented Camp · Mae Salong markets
The ride continues along the Mae Kok River valley on back roads through small villages and farmland. The 22-kilometer route passes agricultural activity—farmers tending crops, artisans working, children in front yards—with minimal tourist traffic. By afternoon the route ascends toward Mae Salong, a mountain village settled by remnants of Chiang Kai-shek's army who fled China after the civil war. The village retains a distinct Chinese character: markets sell dried herbs, aromatic teas, preserved fruits, and other goods reflecting both Thai and Chinese culinary traditions. The cultural and architectural blend sets Mae Salong apart from surrounding Thai villages. Cycling distance: 22 km. Accommodation: Tantawan Tented Camp.
6Mae Salong Agricultural Cycling & Northern Thai Cooking ClassMae Salong · Tantawan Tented Camp
The morning includes a village cycling tour led by Tantawan staff, riding on dirt and paved farm roads surrounding the camp. The 15-kilometer route brings the group close to agricultural work—fields, farmers, and traditional farming methods that have sustained these communities for generations. In the afternoon, the resort's head chef leads a hands-on cooking class focusing on regional northern Thai dishes rather than internationally standardized recipes like pad thai. Participants learn preparation techniques and flavor balancing for specialties passed down within families. Cycling distance: 15 km. Accommodation: Tantawan Tented Camp.
7Tea Plantations & Chiang Saen on the Mekongtea plantations · Chiang Saen · regional tea producer · cacao farm · Chiang Saen riverbank
The 30-kilometer ride moves through rolling terrain covered in manicured tea plantations where workers hand-pick leaves. The air carries fragrance typical of higher-elevation tea-growing regions. The group stops at a regional tea producer for an introduction to cultivation, processing, and a tasting of their products. A cacao farm visit and chocolate sampling may also occur depending on harvest and accessibility. By afternoon the group arrives in Chiang Saen, situated on the Mekong River at the border where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. Traditional Thai massages are available to address cycling fatigue before dinner along the riverbank. Cycling distance: 30 km. Accommodation: Athita Hotel.
8Chiang Saen Lanna Kingdom Temples & Return to Chiang RaiChiang Saen · Le Meridien Chiang Rai · Chiang Saen to Chiang Rai city
A morning walking tour of Chiang Saen begins at the town center, which traces its roots to the Mengrai Era of the Lanna Kingdom, founded in 1329. The route passes centuries-old temple ruins—stone structures whose origins lie in Lanna architectural practice. Moss-covered chedis and crumbling stupas remain scattered through quiet lanes, offering evidence of the town's once-significant role. By early afternoon the group transfers by van back to Chiang Rai city. The evening includes a farewell dinner where the group shares reflections on the week's cycling, river activity, village visits, and cultural observations. Accommodation: Le Meridien Chiang Rai.
9Chiang Rai & DepartureChiang Rai city · the hotel
After breakfast, guests may walk through Chiang Rai city or rest at the hotel before a transfer to the airport for departure. The journey ends in northern Thailand's largest city in the region.
