South India Sacred Circuit — 15 Days

Temple towns, coastal heritage, and hill stations from Chennai to Bangalore

This 15-day journey traces a structured route through South India's primary pilgrimage centres and historical sites. Beginning in Chennai, the itinerary moves inland to Kanchipuram's ancient temples, descends to the Pallava-era stonework at Mamallapuram, then shifts to Pondicherry's French colonial layout and ashram culture. The route then follows the Chola heartland—stopping at the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur and the Meenakshi Temple complex in Madurai—before reaching Rameshwaram, one of the four cardinal pilgrimage destinations in Hindu tradition. The second half transitions from coastal Tamil Nadu into the Western Ghats, passing through Coimbatore and the hill station of Ooty, then crossing into Karnataka to visit the wildlife sanctuary at Nagarhole, the palaces of Mysore, and the Hoysala temple complexes around Hassan, concluding in Bangalore. The itinerary alternates between structured temple visits, open days for personal observation, and transit days that themselves traverse significant landscape changes—from coastal plains to forested slopes to Deccan plateau.
