Sri Lanka: Beaches, Mangroves & Safari Parks — 10 Days

Bentota's coast and mangrove channels meet Yala and Udawalawe wildlife reserves, with whale watching off Mirissa

This ten-day itinerary pairs coastal and lagoon time along Sri Lanka's southwestern shore with dual national park safaris in the island's interior. The route begins in Colombo and moves south to Bentota, where three days of beach and waterway rest break between a boat-based whale and dolphin excursion to Mirissa and a five-hour inland journey to Yala National Park. Two days of morning and evening game drives in Yala precede a transfer to Udawalawe National Park, where a further two days of safari activity targets the park's populations of Asian elephants, sloth bears, and leopards. The itinerary closes with an overnight return to Colombo before airport departure. Accommodation is provided throughout in mid-range hotels and park-adjacent safari lodges; all transfers are by air-conditioned vehicle with driver-guide.
