Sri Lanka Food Safari — 14 Days

Coconut estates, village kitchens, tea plantations and coastal fishing villages across central and western Sri Lanka

This 14-day itinerary moves through Sri Lanka's rural food production and home-cooking traditions, beginning in coconut-growing country outside Colombo and progressing through inland villages where spices grow in home gardens, tea is picked by hand on hillside plantations, and meals are prepared over wood fires. The route includes stays at a working coconut estate, a village homestay in the central highlands, and a fishing community in Negombo. Activities center on observation and participation: learning coconut oil production methods, climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress, tracking wild elephants in Minneriya National Park, riding the scenic train to Ella, and cooking seafood with fisher families. The rhythm alternates between active food-focused days and rest periods, with a full day at a tea estate hotel and two beach days in Negombo before the final return to Colombo.
