The day opens with a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic in central Kandy for attendance at a Pooja ceremony. A cycle around Kandy Lake follows before departure toward Nuwara Eliya. The drive passes the Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Kovil and Ramboda Waterfall, where stops are made. Nuwara Eliya is reached by afternoon. The town's cooler mountain climate and colonial-era architecture characterize the overnight accommodation.

A morning visit to a working tea plantation and factory provides an overview of Sri Lankan tea production in the upcountry.
