Sri Lanka: Kandy, Knuckles & Veddha Villages — 5 Days

Central highlands trek through tea plantations, ancient temples, and indigenous settlement, with wildlife safari in Wasgamuwa National Park

Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lanka's ancient kingdoms, anchors this five-day itinerary centered on the central highlands and their immediate surrounds. The journey moves between established guesthouses and mobile tented camps in the Knuckles mountain range, with days split between guided temple visits and multi-kilometer treks through working farmland, forest, and high plateaus. A overnight stay in a Veddha village provides direct context for Sri Lanka's indigenous population. The route includes the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage en route from Colombo, the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, and concludes with an early-morning safari in Wasgamuwa National Park before return transfer to Colombo.
