Yala National Park holds one of the world's highest recorded densities of leopards, a circumstance that works in favour of visitors — the cats are more readily sighted here than in African reserves where they compete with lions and hyenas. This seven-day itinerary bases guests inside the park itself, in a tented safari camp, for three days of early-morning and afternoon game drives. The second half shifts to the beach town of Hikkaduwa, where three nights of rest and ocean time follow the intensity of the safari section. Transfers from and to Colombo, along with all park fees, drives, and meals during the safari portion, are included.

Morning pickup from Colombo leads south across the coastal plain toward Yala National Park (6–7 hours). Arrive early afternoon at the tented safari camp. After lunch, join an afternoon game drive through the park. Return by 6 p.m. for dinner and overnight stay at camp.

Start before dawn with a 6 a.m. game drive when leopards are most active. Return by 10 a.m. for breakfast, then rest at camp. The afternoon drive departs at 3 p.m., returning by 6 p.m. Dinner and overnight at the safari camp.
3Yala National Park — Morning and Afternoon Game DrivesYala National Park · the camp
A second full safari day follows the same rhythm: early-morning departure at 6 a.m., return by 10 a.m. for breakfast and rest. The afternoon drive runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Over the three-day safari period, the six game drives offer repeated opportunities to observe leopards across different sections of the park and under varying light conditions. Dinner and overnight accommodation at the camp.

A final early-morning game drive departs at 6 a.m. and concludes by 10 a.m. Breakfast follows, after which guests check out and transfer to Chaaya Tranz Hotel in Hikkaduwa, a drive of roughly 2 to 3 hours southwest along the coast. Overnight accommodation at Chaaya Tranz on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
