From there, the route includes Sigiriya's fifth-century rock fortress, a village-level stop in Habarana, evening game viewing in Minneriya National Park, and concludes with Kandy's Temple of the Tooth Relic and a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The tour covers approximately 4 hours of driving on Day 1 and 3 hours on Day 3, with all transfers in air-conditioned vehicles and guided throughout.

The itinerary begins with a four-hour drive from Colombo northwestward to Wilpattu National Park. Wilpattu occupies a dry-zone ecology defined by dense forest interspersed with shallow flood-plain lakes bordered by white sand — a landscape that concentrates wildlife around water sources. An afternoon safari follows arrival, offering views of the park's elephant, deer, wild boar, and sloth bear populations, with occasional sightings of leopards. The first night is spent at Hotel Sinharagam in Nochchiyagama on a bed and breakfast basis.

A morning game drive concludes the Wilpattu portion of the itinerary before a transfer to Anuradhapura, the ancient Buddhist capital. Anuradhapura was established in the 3rd century BCE around a cutting from the Bodhi tree — the fig tree beneath which Buddha achieved enlightenment — planted by Sanghamitta, founder of the first Buddhist nunnery. For the following thirteen centuries, the city served as the political and religious capital of the island. An invasion in 993 CE triggered its abandonment; the site then lay hidden beneath jungle growth for over a thousand years. Today, the accessible ruins include monasteries, palaces, and monuments across multiple eras. The route then continues to Habarana village. Overnight accommodation is at Sorowwa Resort & Spa on a bed and breakfast basis.
