A guided walk through the tea plantations demonstrates harvest cycles—bushes are picked weekly and pruned every five years—and points out a 95-year-old mother bush from which approximately 2,500 cuttings are propagated annually. The guide discusses wildlife including wild boar, buffalo, and occasional leopards that inhabit the area at night, and identifies approximately 50 bird species visible locally, among them the endemic yellow-eared bulbul and Sri Lanka white eye. The walk passes through a settlement of roughly 150 families, where vegetable beds are marked and maintained with precision, and where children play cricket and hoop games when not in school. If open, a local Hindu temple offers a visit to observe statuary and receive a pottu mark (forehead marking) from temple members; if closed, the walk allows observation of daily village activity. The route concludes with a climb to a ridge offering panoramic views across the planted valleys and misty hills.
