Sri Lanka: Village, Stream & Temple — 9 Days

Anamaduwa to Kandy via Sigiriya — Rural stays, waterway exploration, and hands-on village life

This nine-day itinerary moves between three eco-lodges in Sri Lanka's interior and coastal margins, each deliberately positioned outside standard tourist corridors. The journey begins in Negombo's mangrove ecosystems, continues through Anamaduwa's flat agricultural landscape and the Paramakanda temple complex, then shifts to Sigiriya's rock fortress and forest terrain before settling in Kandy's hill country for village walks, rice-field observation, and waterfall hikes. Accommodation emphasizes vernacular architecture and working farms; activities center on practical engagement — cycling to temples, cooking with lodge staff, wading in forest streams, watching water buffalo in muddy fields — rather than structured performances. The route assumes a measured pace, with multiple nights in each location and ample time for unscheduled walks or rest.
