Sri Lanka Wildlife & Photography — 14 Days

Wilpattu, Polonnaruwa, Yala and Bundala: Leopards, Elephants, Whales and Sloth Bears

This 14-day wildlife photography tour moves across Sri Lanka's major national parks and coastal waters, following the seasonal movements of the country's large mammals and migratory birds. The itinerary begins in Wilpattu, the largest national park, where three consecutive days allow multiple safari sessions to photograph leopards, sloth bears, elephants, and the park's resident and migrant birdlife. From there, the route shifts to Polonnaruwa's archaeological landscape, where ancient temple ruins frame opportunities to photograph endemic primates and nocturnal species including the Slender Loris. The middle section includes Horton Plains' grassy expanses and Baker's Waterfall before moving to Yala, where a two-day wildlife concentration targets the park's high leopard density. Bundala follows as a dedicated bird-watching site, and the tour concludes with two dawn boat trips into the Indian Ocean to photograph blue whales off the southern coast. Transfers between parks involve 3–6 hour drives; accommodation ranges from safari camps to mid-range hotels. All park entrance fees, meals as specified, and English-speaking guides are included.
