Tibet: Lhasa, Monasteries & Namtso Lake — 5 Days

Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Namtso Lake

Lhasa sits at 3,650 meters on Tibet's central plateau, a city where monumental religious architecture and active monastic practice remain inseparable from daily life. This five-day itinerary moves through the capital's principal sites—Potala Palace, seat of temporal and spiritual authority; Jokhang Temple, Tibet's holiest shrine; and the monasteries of Drepung and Sera—before traveling to Namtso Lake, one of Tibet's three sacred lakes. The route accommodates altitude acclimatization on arrival and includes a visit to a Tibetan family household and the Tibet Museum. Travelers typically arrive by flight or train from mainland China or by air from Kathmandu, with English-speaking Tibetan guides leading all sightseeing.
