Yanbaru River Trek — Northern Okinawa

Half-day and full-day river trekking through UNESCO-designated national park with waterfall jumps and forest swimming

Yanbaru National Park, in the northern highlands of Okinawa's main island, contains a network of subtropical river valleys where guided trekking routes move through forest-filtered light, past natural waterfalls, and across rock formations suitable for swimmers. The park sits on land designated by UNESCO, and the river systems that cut through it flow year-round—cool and sharp in winter, inviting relief in summer heat. Half-day routes run 1–2 hours on the water; full-day treks extend 3–4 hours across multiple sections, with stops for swimming and photography. Guides hold professional credentials in white-water navigation and canyon travel. Transport, equipment (helmet, lifejacket, water shoes), bilingual guidance, and meal service are included for both formats. Routes range from beginner to intermediate difficulty.
