In the afternoon, visit Sungtseling Monastery, a five-story complex built in the 17th century by the 5th Dalai Lama and home to over 700 practicing Buddhist monks. The main assembly hall, lit by diffused light and framed in massive red pillars, houses chapels, wood carvings, and paintings documenting Tibetan religious life.
